A few weeks ago, I shot an engagement session for Gina and Yooksuk in the Meatpacking District of New York City. We started out at the Gaslight Lounge on the corner of 14th Street and 9th Avenue. I was there a few years ago for a friend’s birthday part and ran into my old pal, James Gandolfini. Apparently, he lives right in the area.

Anyway, Gina and Yoonsuk are getting married next week at Florentine Gardens. This will be the second time shooting there for me. Florentine Gardens also happens to be where Jeannie and I got married. One thing I cannot stop saying is that the food is freaking phenomenal! I love the food there!

The way I shoot normally is that we start out shooting in one location and then just “go for a walk” and talk and see what we stumble upon. Marissa and Mike’s session started out near their home, then we wandered to this underpass. As I was shooting them by one of the pillars, I noticed the area in the background with strong sunlight and dark shadows. See image below:

So, I said, “Hey guys, let’s go over there. Do you mind sitting on the ground for a little bit?” Then we got the image below:

marissa + mike | engaged

Today I shot Marissa and Mike’s engagement photos in South Orange, NJ. It had been sunny all day, but the thunderstorms rolled in right around 4pm when we were supposed to start shooting. We ended up hanging out in their apartment for a little bit while we waited for the rain to stop. I’m glad we waited because it was about 10 degrees cooler and less humid after. Nice!

It was a slow start, but once we started taking pictures, they loosened up and had a great time. Now that we got our “practice round” in, they’re good to go for their wedding day.

Marissa and Mike are having their reception at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange, NJ. The place looks really nice, I can’t wait!

carolyn + james | sexyness

It’s been a super busy day. In the morning, I shot Cristina + Steve in Hoboken, NJ. Later that afternoon, I headed into the city for Carolyn + James’ engagement session at South Street Seaport in Manhattan.

As I normally do before any session, I asked them what type of shots they had in mind. Carolyn immediately says, “Sexy!” Niceness. I think we captured sexy in these photos.

cristina + steve | engagement

Today was an awesome day for engagement shoots! I had the opportunity to shoot Cristina and Steve in the morning in Hoboken, NJ. Cristina and Steve are getting married at the Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle, NY. They are a super cool couple and I can’t wait for their wedding in July.

They were referred to me by the super awesome Sarah-Jane Bennett from All Events Perfect. This will be the second wedding that we will be working together. I know it’s going to go perfectly with SJ running the show!
