So… I feel like my last wedding is always my best. I guess that’s a good thing because that means that my skills are improving. However, one of my biggest fears before the next wedding is, “How am I going to top the last wedding? It was so awesome!” That’s actually how I felt today before Anabella and Renjit’s wedding in Princeton. How the hellz would I be better than the last wedding that I shot?
As the day was moving along, I was just looking at some of the shots that I had taken and I just knew. I knew and I could NOT wait to get home to look through my images.
Anabella was looking absolutely beautiful and Renjit is a good looking dude. Their reception was held at The Palace at Somerset Park and it was a gorgeous location.
Ok, so I’m not going to bore you with my words. I want my pictures to do the talking for me. Enjoy!
First, thank you everyone for taking the time to vote for the magazine ad and for all your thoughtful feedback. After much thought, I’ve gone against what the majority of you chose as your favorite. I chose image #1. I did, however, change one thing. This image isn’t so much “fun” as it is “sexy.”
I posted the poll on various forums and a few women’s comments (and even some of the guys’) on image #1 on a particular forum really sealed the deal for me.
Hey everyone! So, I’m thinking about putting an ad in a bridal magazine. I have chosen 5 images that I might possibly use for the ad. The point of this ad will really be just to create brand awareness and get my name out to all the women out there that need (or will need) a wedding photographer sometime in the future. Of course, I would love to book some weddings from this ad, but that is actually the secondary purpose.
I’ve asked around and gotten mixed responses, so I’m opening this up to you guys to help me out. Choose the one that you think stands out the most. Which one would make you stop and look if you’re just flipping through a bridal magazine.

February 23, 2010 - 2:59 pmTisha - I definitely like #4. #5 is a close second.
February 23, 2010 - 3:10 pmNancy Chae - I like number 1. It's different, fresh and modern. I like the fact that there is no face to the body so anyone, hopefully prospective clients, can envision themselves as the bride.
February 23, 2010 - 3:25 pmLinda Ma-Truong - #4 is gorgeous!
February 23, 2010 - 3:31 pmcelia - inku, i don't know how you have them numbered. but i like the red chair and the old house is my favorite. very creative and different!! great work
February 23, 2010 - 3:32 pmcelia - just saw the numbers
February 23, 2010 - 4:18 pmhuiwen - #4 all the way. it's warm and captures the "fun" part of your tagline the best.
February 23, 2010 - 5:45 pmAmanda - Def #3. It's your slogan and then some. You need a strong image with a bride and groom if its going in a magazine. #5 is too dark. Very creative, but #3 is the best for a magazine.
February 23, 2010 - 6:42 pmJen - Hard to choose but no.4 seems to appeal to me the most
February 23, 2010 - 9:09 pmChristine - I like #3 but #4 is a VERY close second! Both are beautiful!
February 23, 2010 - 9:23 pmSarah - I like 4. I'd like them better if I was in it!
February 23, 2010 - 9:30 pmCherise - #2 or #3 - great pics!
February 24, 2010 - 8:36 amJin - I vote for #4... I vote no to #5 b/c it's kind of dark and looks like there's a shadowy figure hiding... haha... not "bridal-y"
#2 and #3 also look pretty sweet...
I just generally like #4 b/c the lady is glowing with joy...
February 24, 2010 - 12:44 pmKristin - I think #3 with bride and groom .... #4 is nice but it seems more typical - bride on couch facing camera .... 3 shows your style ... plus I think it is better to have bride & groom and not just bride
So, one of my goals as a photographer is to see any given setting or situation differently. I’m going to show you two examples of two different locations. The images on the left are examples of what the location would normally look like to the naked eye. The images on the right are what you can make using your camera as a tool.
In this first picture, I simply posed Anabella and Renjit in the tunnel and wanted to show the cool pastel colors. (left image) You can see some of the shadows on the ground behind them which were used in the image on the right. The picture on the right is the same location, but I decided to use the shadows.
In this next picture, I took a picture of the groomsmen setting up the chuppah (left image) in the area where I put Michaela and Eric for the second image (right image). I used the direct sunlight coming in through the windows to create what I think is a very interesting portrait of the happy bride and groom.
I will try to do this more often in my blog as I think it is important for you to see not only the finished image, but what the location looks like and the thought process that is behind making photographs.
